Apple has announced that it has sold its one millionth iPad – only 28 days after it was introduced on April 3. The tech giant also announced that iPad users have already downloaded 12 million aps from its App Store and over 1.5 million e-books from its new iBookstore.
From Apple’s press release:
“One million iPads in 28 days–that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple’s new 3G iPad, which is capable of cellular activities, was sold out in Apple stores in San Francisco, New York, Boston and Houston. The 3G tablet went on sale late Friday afternoon on the 30th.
