For Marketplace Morning Report, Thursday, August 26, 2010
A mishmash of news today. Let’s start with the Golden State. California passed a bill to set up a new health insurance exchange market. It could be a model for other states. Going global, Germans don’t want their bosses to “friend” them on Facebook. You can friend Marketplace though. There’s a link on our homepage. And these are the other stories we covered: Data storage company 3PAR’s board is said to have accepted an offer from Dell, prices for natural gas are down 18% this month, economics correspondent Chris Farrell says there is good news that’s being ignored amid the bad economic data, luxury home builder Toll Brothers is going after distressed assets, Wal-Mart is turning to the Supreme Court over a gender discrimination lawsuit, BP is stopping plans to drill off Greeland’s coast, and would you want to fly in an airplane that had a families-only section? Give us your feedback. And these are the songs we played:
- Connjur — School of Seven Belles
Buy - Ceremony — Yes But NoBuy
- May Day — SpunkshineBuy
- Breath Control — Motor City Drum EnsembleBuy
- Cheeseburger in Paradise — Pickin’ On SeriesBuy
