It’s decision time. To buy or not to buy former President George W. Bush’s memoir?
The 43rd President’s autobiography, titled “Decision Points,” hits bookshelves today for a list price of $35.
The 481-page book includes Bush’s thoughts on the contested 2000 election, 9/11, the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, the financial crisis and other moments and decisions in his eight-year presidency. He also writes about his flaws and mistakes, accomplishments, and sheds new light on his decision to quit drinking, discovery of faith, and relationship with his family.
Other key subject areas include how Bush selected the vice president, cabinet members, Supreme Court justices, and other key officials; information on his administration s counter-terrorism programs; and his relationships with world leaders.
He discusses how the “worst moment” of the presidency was hearing accusations that race played a role in the federal government’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
Bush, who has shied away from the public eye since he left office two years ago, sat down with NBC’s Matt Lauer to discuss the book and his presidency. The exclusive aired on Monday night, and Bush is scheduled to appear on The Today Show on Wednesday morning to kick off the book tour.
