Google just can’t seem to please Europe. If it’s not Street View, it’s anti-competitive practices. The European Union announced that it’s investigating Google after complaints that Google unfairly gives competitors lower page rankings than it does for its own search results.
Danny Sullivan, search guru over at SearchEngineLand thinks the investigation is really stupid, pointing out, among other things, that if Google gave top placement to other search engines, it wouldn’t really be a search engine, it would just be a reference for its competitors.
The EU also said that this investigation shouldn’t be seen as a presumption of guilt, they’re just looking into the situation.
