European Telcoms want Google, Facebook, Apple to pay for more infrastructure

John Moe Dec 9, 2010

Interesting thought. They say that because so much new traffic is going through thanks to the iPhone and Android popularity and the crazy stupid amount of page views necessitated by Facebook, that those and other popular companies should pay part of the cost of running the networks and building out more capacity. “If telecom operators want us to share in their expenses, perhaps we could talk about sharing subscription revenues as well,” Giuseppe de Martino, general counsel and head of public affairs at the Dailymotion video site, told The Register.
