For Marketplace, Friday, December 10, 2010
The big story this week was all about the tax cuts, and that was what was covered in the Weekly Wrap. John Dimsdale took a look at the last tax code reform — back in 1986 — and compared it to our situation today. Despite the Fed’s plan to try and get interest rates down by pumping billions of dollars into the economy — interest rates are getting higher than ever. The FAA is forcing all planes to re-register within the next three years. The U.N. climate change conference is wrapping up in Cancun, but did anything get accomplished? Iowa may be looking to cut sabbaticals for professors at its public universities to save money. And Mitchell Hartman takes a light-hearted look into the possible return of Wall Street’s extravagant bashes. Here are the songs we played to end the week:
- American Pie – The VenturesBuy
- Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above (instrumental) – CSSBuy
- 500 (Shake Baby Shake) – LushBuy
- If I Could Fly – Joe SatrianiBuy
- Space – Like a Goodnight Kiss
- Pinch – Marc Ribot’s Ceramic DogBuy
