How much of a difference does a face make? How about $16 million in six weeks? That’s how much Wikipedia was able to raise, and many say it’s thanks to founder Jimmy Wales’ photograph banner asking for money on the website. Facebook also got some money, in the form of a $450 million investment from Goldman Sachs today. Illinois is in serious debt, trying to overcome a $13 billion deficit. Congress will debate raising the U.S.’s debt limit, or how much the government is allowed to borrow. Commentator David Leonhardt proposed reining in health care costs to put more money in consumers’ pockets. Dollar General plans to expand on its discount success.
