Time Warner caves

John Moe Apr 1, 2011

In a victory for broadcast companies and a loss for people who enjoy television, Time Warner is caving in to pressure and removing several live TV channels from its iPad app. We reported on this a few days ago when Time Warner was getting pressure from companies like Viacom who said that the cable company did not have permission to offer these channels on an app. This despite the fact that the only people who could get them were Time Warner customers who already subscribed to those channels and were getting both cable and internet from Time Warner. In other words, same channels, different screen. Gone are MTV, Comedy Central, FX, and TLC.
