LulzSec and Anonymous declare war on all governments

John Moe Jun 20, 2011

So who are you rooting for: the entire sociopolitical order as we know it or nameless hacker groups? Well, pick one, because apparently war is imminent. LulzSec has issued a statement that claims to be in league with Anonymous that fixes the battle against governments, banks, and corporations, all with the goal of exposing corruption: “Your hat can be white, gray or black, your skin and race are not important. If you’re aware of the corruption, expose it now, in the name of Anti-Security.

Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments.”
So now we’ll have to see if this is bluff, bluster, or the precursor to something really ugly. Rooting out corruption has a certain appeal but if banks are attacked and regular people fall victim, this could get quite ugly.

Here’s a funny wrinkle, you go to Anonymous’s web site and it seems to be down after a DDOS attack. There’s a message there that peevishly insists the site was NOT hacked. Whatever you say, sport.
