Looks like Specific Media is the front runner in the bid to acquire Myspace. Specific Media made a fortune, get this, as creators of the pop under ad. The little ad that appears beneath your browser window instead of a pop up so that you’re more likely to look at it. Insidious. The price tag will be around 30 to 40 million with News Corp possibly retaining a small chunk of ownership. News Corp is trying to make the sale go through by end of day tomorrow so it will be over by the time the fiscal year is over. Other companies might still emerge if this deal doesn’t go through. Kind of odd that there are potentially multiple bidders here. Sort of like eligible bachelors queuing up to court Courtney Love (formerly brilliant, now kind of a mess).
