…says guy with a huge interest in making iPhones not cool anymore. Martin Fichter is the head of handset maker HTC’s operations in America and at a conference in Seattle yesterday he told about how his daughter’s friends in college don’t use iPhones. That’s because their parents use iPhones. No, he said, the kids all use HTC phones or Samsung phones or something else. iPhones are squaresville. Of course, wishing something was true does not make it true, as is evidenced by my lifelong lack of ponies and rocket cars. Still, it makes you wonder what really is valuable in a phone and whether there can be such a thing as an alt-phone.
