You’ll never believe what happened: a hacking attempt on PlayStation Network

Marc Sanchez Oct 12, 2011

I’m being facetious, of course. You would totally believe that this happened because of the numerous times it’s happened in the recent past. In this case, 93,000 accounts on the gaming network have been locked down due to a hacking attempt wherein someone tried to, in Sony’s words, “test a massive set of sign-in IDs and passwords”, against user accounts on the Sony PlayStation Network. So the lockdown, according to Sony, is precautionary. Apparently some of the affected accounts show signs of suspicious activity prior to being locked. Sony is notifying all affected accounts by email.
