Oh, this story just makes me tired even thinking about it. Nokia says it will debut a bunch of new Nokia-built Windows phones at an upcoming conference. Meanwhile, Microsoft honcho Steve Ballmer has begun bad mouthing Android, either because he doesn’t realize an infinitely lot more people buy Android than Windows Phone or because he wants to grab some publicity ahead of the launch. Nokia, obviously, has fallen on pretty hard times as of late and they’re really hoping something with Microsoft can click. Microsoft still swims in pools of gold coins BUT they haven’t gotten anywhere in the phone market.
Stephen Elop, honcho of Nokia and former Microsoftie, says
I am encouraged by our progress around the first Nokia experience with Windows Phone, and we look forward to bringing the experience to consumers in select countries later this quarter. We then intend to systematically increase the number of countries and launch partners during the course of 2012.
