New MacBook Pros sneak out

John Moe Oct 24, 2011

Without much fanfare, Apple released a new line of MacBook Pros this morning. Without getting into too much geek chow, the new machines have faster processors and bigger hard drives.

WITH getting into geek chow, Ars Technica tells us:

The 13″ MacBook Pro saw its processors go to 2.4Ghz dual-core Intel Core i5s and 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7s, up from 2.3GHz and 2.7GHz respectively. The machines also saw their drives bumped up to 500GB and 750GB. The 15″ MacBook Pro, on the other hand, went up to 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz Core i7s, up from 2.0 and 2.2GHz, with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M in the lower-end machine and a 6770M on the higher end. (The build-to-order hard drive option for the 15″ is now 750GB as well.)
And the Big Mama of the group, the 17″ MacBook Pro, was bumped from a 2.2GHz Core i7 to a 2.4GHz version, with the option to go up to 2.5GHz. The 17″ MacBook Pro also now has the Radeon HD 6770M, with the same build-to-order hard drive option as the 15″ device.

But here’s the real story: prices stay the same. Machines get better, no change in prices.
