New Google Reader debuts

Marc Sanchez Nov 1, 2011

I’m a regular Google Reader user. I know there are slicker ways of getting my news but I find it simple and reliable (I also drive a Ford Focus, if that’s any indication of my approach to novelty). The new Reader is rolling out now and mine just showed up. Gone are the subscription options where you could subscribe to the news items posted by your friends but that’s been replaced by deeper integration with Google+ so now you can share with more people. A lot of loyal Reader users are upset about all this redesign because, well, they’re Google Reader users and if they liked change they wouldn’t be using such a dinosaur in the first place. I think it’s fine although the larger type and the increase in white space means a lot fewer stories are shown before you have to start scrolling.
