We’ve been following events in the various lawsuits seeking to block AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile. Rivals Sprint (the Ringo of wireless carriers) and C Spire Wireless (the, I don’t know, Harry Nilsson?) can go forward with their suits alleging that the deal would hurt the wireless market after a ruling by D.C. District Judge Ellen Huvelle, who denied AT&T’s motion to throw the cases out.
The decision may complicate matters for AT&T and T-Mobile USA because they will now have to simultaneously fight the government’s attempt to block the deal and argue against claims by the two competitors.
The judge also agreed to allow C Spire, a small regional carrier previously known as Cellular South, to pursue injury claims about the effect the deal would have on roaming services, according to the 44-page ruling.
Huvelle dismissed some of Sprint’s additional complaints for lack of support.
Trial is expected to begin in February.
