AT&T pays TiVo 215 mill in patent settlement

John Moe Jan 4, 2012

TiVO! Remember them? Back before there were a whole lot of DVR options, TiVo was the term for both that technology and the brand. If you couldn’t catch your favorite show, you didn’t DVR it, you TiVoed it. Then everyone else started making TiVo type technology. Wasn’t that odd? Well, TiVo thought so and it’s going to receive 215 million dollars in a settlement of a patent infringement suit against AT&T. TiVo also reached a $500 million settlement with Dish Network last May and has a case against Verizon still pending.

Ah, it was so much simpler when we just had to program a VCR and watch it all on crappy VHS tapes. By cracky. Get those kids off my lawn. Bring me my slipper. Consarnit.
