Codebreaker

I paid $600 for this iPad, and all I got was a bag of clay

Marc Sanchez Jan 18, 2012

That’s what 24 people were probably saying when they went to pull their shiny, new tablet out of the box and found a zip-locked of clay. iPads were stolen and replaced with modeling clay at Canadian retailers: Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart, and London Drugs stores. You kind of have to stand up and give a slow-autonomous-clap for the imaginative, criminal planning that went into this caper. The tablets were replace with clay during the holiday rush, probably when boxes were less likely to be immediately opened (more time for a clean getaway). Imagine being the first person to try and explain to the store manager that you would like a new iPad for a bag of clay. “Uh… seriously, THIS is what was in the box. I know it’s crazy, but I’d like an iPad now.”
