Party like a rock star

Marc Sanchez Feb 8, 2012

Or throw a wedding in a private mansion. Now you can do either with Eventup, which went live yesterday. It’s similar to Airbnb, the service that lets people list rooms in their homes to rent for travelers. Eventup helps you find that perfect space to host a party. For now, that perfect space should be in Southern California – that’s where all the best mansions are anyway, right? It does plan, however, to expand to the rest of the country.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Founder and CEO Tony Adam says the service benefits both property owners and venue seekers. People can rent out second homes that would otherwise sit vacant, while party hosts can find a less-dreary alternative to the hotel ballroom or convention center.

After a little perusing, my favorite is the “Magical Villa,” which boasts hand-painted murals and a 90” screen in the entertainment room. Of course that one’s gonna set you back $10,000, so you better really love it, or have access to a company credit card, to host a soiree there. Fear not, if you’re on a budget, you can always rent out Kirstie Alley’s store (nutritional consulting, naturally) for $500.
