Larger downloads for your i-Devices

Marc Sanchez Mar 8, 2012

Part of the iPad announcement yesterday you’ll be able to buy a 4G LTE-enabled iPad – essentially a faster, wireless Internet. Right now, only Verizon and AT&T will offer 4G plans for the new device, but it’s only a matter of time.

The way Apple is thinking, though, is that with faster speeds, and its new HD screens, will come bigger files that cram in more effects and graphics. Until yesterday Apple limited the download size for apps to 20 MB. If you wanted a game or something bigger, you’d have to download it via Wi-Fi. Apple upped the 20 MB limit to 50 MB. Good news for app developers, who may have wanted to give you better graphics but held back because they thought you might not download the app due to its size.

Also good news for wireless companies with 4G LTE networks, since their customers will probably want to consume more data, thus driving up profits. And just for the heck of it, good news for you, because you really wanted to see the detail, down to the dermal layer, on that dragon’s back on the Dragon’s Lair app.
