From our That’s No Moon, It’s A Space Station file: iPad grows more powerful

John Moe Jul 26, 2012

We don’t report every batch of numbers that come across our desks here but sometimes a set of numbers make us pay a little more attention. Such is the case with the tablet market which continues to grow and which is now being dominated by the iPad more than ever before. According to new information from Strategy Analytics, Apple now controls 68.3% of the tablet market, which is up from 62% in the second quarter of last year. Growth has slowed for tablets over all, that’s attributed to the economy, but the threats posed to the iPad from rivals like Samsung and Amazon just hasn’t seemed to be all that serious. Will the new Google tablet be the big name Android alternative? Maybe. But remember that the iPad Mini is supposedly coming out in September.
