- Top of my list this week was the debut of Dan Gorenstein’s Camden, N.J., series. A cracking two-part opener for a season of character-driven coverage of the roll-out of the health care law: “Creating a healthier Camden” and “Setting up shop where the sick are.“
- A doff of the Marketplace hat to the elegant way in which Sabri Ben-Achour dealt with a thicket of conflicting information on student loans.
- Queena Kim reported a two-parter for the Marketplace Morning Report looking at Silicon Valley and the government. The piece were a delightful guide to a relationship forged in a more distant past than you might think: “Tracking the relationship of the government and Silicon Valley” and “Silicon Valley and the government: It’s complicated.”
- Check out Rob Schmitz’s piece about young Keenan Madson’s experiences interning in Guangzhou — another debut piece from a new coverage stream about Americans in China. I laughed out loud.
- David Weinberg’s satirical letter for new unpaid interns was both entertaining and a great way to highlight the issues involved.
- And do take a look at “American Futures – Travels with Jim and Kai.” It’s the start of our partnership with The Atlantic covering (and sometimes joining) James Fallows as he flies across the country.
