The Flora Bama bar does business on the state line
The Flora Bama is situated right on the border between Alabama and Florida, on Perdido Key on the Gulf Coast. The business sprang up in 1964, when you couldn’t buy liquor in that part of Alabama. So walking over to Florida? Very convenient. What does the Flora Bama offer now? Nan Gibbs has been working there for eight years and manages the liquor store. She’s been a Flora Bama customer since 1983. Nan Gibbs speaks to Lizzie O’Leary about business and liquor sales on the border.
