I really, really, really, really like you
It used to be the five-star rating system was reserved for restaurants and movies. But a new phone app wants to co-opt our desire for crowd-sourced reviews and apply it to something a little more personal: people. The forthcoming app Peeple allows users to rate others on a one- to five-star rating scale. And no one will be safe. As the Washington Post writes, once your name is put in by a user, only a violation of terms of service will take it out. The company behind the app is currently valued at $7.6 million.
But as the internet taketh away, it also giveth. On the other side of the spectrum, dating app Tinder has added a “Super Like” function to its interface. In addition to swiping right and left (for like and dislike, respectively), users are now given one super like a day. When used, the recipient of the honor will see a badge on the user’s profile to indicate that the person has Super Liked them. As The Next Web writes, Tinder launched the feature in Australia in September and found that matches were three times more likely with a Super Like.
