It’s true, the top 1 percent now own half of the world’s wealth.

But what if you’re crazy enough to want to join them up there at the top?

Well, Sam Wilkin has a manual for you. His new book is called “Wealth Secrets of the One Percent: A Modern Manual to Getting Marvelously, Obscenely Rich,” and it looks at how people make their way to the top of the money pile. According to Wilkin, at least one ancient Roman did it by killing people and taking their property, legally. Nowadays the rich have Wall Street, Silicon Valley and unregulated third world countries to help them fill their pockets.

Wilkin spoke with Marketplace’s Molly Wood.
