Merriam-Webster says searches for "fascism" have surged
Remember how, after Brexit, there were those stories about how the phrase “What is Brexit” saw a surge in Google searches in the U.K.?
Well, this is a true example of the fact that what goes around, comes around.
Merriam-Webster tweeted last night that its list of top word searches the past week or so include: fascism, bigot, xenophobe, racism, socialism, resurgence, xenophobia and misogyny. The number of searches this year for “fascism” have increased by over 400 percent alone.
? Top lookups right now, in order:
fascism
bigot
xenophobe
racism
socialism
resurgence
xenophobia
misogynyhttps://t.co/Y1nrjCtOWq— Merriam-Webster (@MerriamWebster) November 13, 2016
