Some big players in the Super Bowl ad lineup bow out of the game

The Super Bowl is coming up on February 5. That means companies planning to advertise during the big game still have plenty of time to put the finishing touches on those exorbitantly priced commercials. Or they could just skip it — that’s what Frito-Lay says it’s doing. The maker of Doritos, Cheetos and other perennial game-time snacks said no commercials this year after a decade. The chip maker’s not the only company sitting this one out. Toyota won’t advertise during the Super Bowl either. Why have these companies decided to pull out?
