Michael Lipkin
Producer
SHORT BIO
I work overnight producing the “Marketplace Morning Report,” assigning and overseeing the show’s five daily broadcasts. I help figure out what stories we cover, edit the reporters who work on the morning shift with us and help find people for our hosts to interview.
What was your first job?
Intern at Gay City News, a free weekly in New York. (First job-job? News producer for Chicago's PBS station.)
What do you think is the hardest part of your job that no one knows?
Getting up at 3 a.m. Every. Day.
In your next life, what would your career be?
A librarian. They have the same goal we do — helping the public stay informed.
What’s the favorite item in your workspace and why?
A Lego model of the Saturn V, the NASA rocket that landed the first man on the moon. I used to cover science and technology, and I've always been fascinated with the history of spaceflight. Also, who doesn't love Lego?
