Sarah Menendez is a former product specialist at Marketplace. Her job was to think about how audiences interact with our digital products. She created launch plans for new projects, optimized platforms for the user and collaborated across the organization to create internal tools that help us work smarter.

What advice do you wish someone had given you before you started this career?

It's OK if you don't want to be a reporter — there are a lot of different jobs behind the scenes that make the newsroom run.

In your next life, what would your career be?

Event planner. I love planning parties, and I spend way too much time watching wedding videos on YouTube.

What’s your most memorable Marketplace moment?

When LeVar Burton came to the studio for an interview, I totally freaked out. I word-vomited something about “Reading Rainbow” and how much he means to my mom as a teacher. He was so kind and told me to make sure I thank my mom for her work.
