JetBlue and Spirit’s merger is not cleared for takeoff

2023 was the first year since the pandemic that China largely did not have any COVID restrictions. In that year, China’s economy grew 5.2%, which is a bit better than Beijing’s target of 5% but is also the lowest growth recorded outside of the pandemic since 1990.

A federal judge has blocked JetBlue’s purchase of Spirit Airlines. The Justice Department had filed an antitrust lawsuit, saying a merger would eliminate a low-cost carrier that has been helping to keep airfares down.
