Housing an Aging Population: Are We Prepared?

The question is, will the jobs be there for aging boomers? Odds are, older employees will find work and entrepreneurship will flourish.

I don't think investors should fear the march of time. The specter of a baby boomer-driven stock and bond market implosion seems implausible to me largely because of the move toward market economies around the world. By the time retiring boomers are selling in earnest, markets will be even more global than they are now. There are a lot of foreigners to buy U.S. assets.

The jobs market is showing signs of life - but these positive prospects are being enjoyed by maybe the last group you would expect: baby boomers.

Many are now realizing they'll have to work through their retirement years, which means staying in the areas where they have their career networks, instead of moving to warm states like Arizona.

Working during the traditional retirement years means it makes sense to stay put and not pick up stakes when older.
