In Venezuela, President Hugo Chavez has been reelected to a new six-year term. He had 54 percent of the vote; much closer than he's gotten used to during his 14 years in office.

Venezuelans will be going to the polls this weekend to elect their president. Unlike any election in recent memory there, it's looking close for Hugo Chavez, who has been in power since 1998.

Charging less than a dime per gallon, Venezuela sells cheapest gas on the planet. Norway has some of the highest fuel prices in the world.

Opposition supporters report more than 17,000 people have been killed during the 16-month uprising against the Syrian government. Today the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Syrian regime is getting help from Venezuela in the form of diesel.
